Nexus 5 most recent leaks & rumours (pictures)(different sized batteries perhaps?)

image

Above we see a diagram from the supposed leaked owners manual for the Nexus 5. That same leaked manual gave up a list of specs that lead towards this being a very solid Nexus device & are as follows.

– 4.95-inch 1080p IPS TFT display
– 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip
– 2GB of RAM
– 8mp rear camera & 1.3mp front facing camera
– 2,300 mAh battery
– 16GB or 32GB of storage.
– Android 4.4 Kit Kat (internally known as KLP)

The most recent rumour is suggesting that the Nexus 5 will actually come in 2 different models. The rumour suggests the 2 models will have different storage (which we see above) but each storage size will come with different sized batteries.
The 16gb model will sport the 2,300mAh battery that we’ve all heard, but the big surprise is a rumour suggesting the 32gb model will feature a whopping 3,000mAh battery.

Rumored pricing for each model is rumored to be $299 for the 16gb model & $399 for the 32gb model. These are all just rumours at the moment but as many were only disappointed by the battery size in earlier leaks this is a very exciting rumour that means the Nexus 5 could be the Nexus device all the Nexus faithful have been dreaming about. We’ll bring you more as the leaks & rumours come in, all the way up to the launch.

Well what do you think of this most recent rumour of battery size & the other specs?
Let us know in the comments below we love hearing for all of our fellow Androidian’s.

Some more leaked photos of the Nexus 5 below.

Google PlayStore Gift cards have found their way to Canada

image

Google has finally started offering PlayStore gift cards in Canada, it’s about time eh ;-). Denominations of $15, $25 and $50 are available from selected retailers, including those which are listed below.

Best Buy
Shoppers Drug Mart
Target
Mac’s
Walmart
Future Shop

The cards apply credits to your Google Wallet account for purchases of games, apps, books, movies and music from the PlayStore. Possibly even devices we’re not sure as we’ve never tried.

For those of us at Team Android Canada that haven’t had credit cards at one time or another we just used Visa & Mastercard prepaid cards from these same retailers. So if PlayStore gift cards haven’t made their way to your local retailer you can always grab a prepaid Visa or Mastercard and just input the card like you would a regular postpaid version of said cards.

Could this be the Nexus 5 or a prototype of another Nexus?

image

This picture is now everywhere and it’s from the video Google released earlier today showing them putting up the kit kat Android guy which is supposedly the next version of Android 4.4. In the screenshot we see a guy holding what looks like a mix of the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 2013 and is definitely not a device we’ve seen before, Could this be the Nexus 5 or a prototype for it?
Did Google do this on purpose? Well we’re not sure they did as they have now taken down the video from YouTube which has us all questioning it’s being done purposely. If it is I’m so happy that it looks to be a 5″ display would be packed in there with the comparison of the Nexus 4. I just hope it’s 1080p full HD which would be amazing on a Nexus phone because it sure makes the Nexus 7 one incredible tablet.

What do you guys think, is it the Nexus 5?

Android 4.4 Kit Kat a reality or just a Google hoax?

image

Seems today a new statue was placed on the front lawn of Google headquarters of our beloved Andy the Android guy looking very chocolaty and delicious. Google may be naming the next version of Android “kit kat” after the chocolate bar that many of us enjoy when we need a break. Is this real or just Google having some fun with us? I guess only time will tell when we see it hit our Nexus devices. Until then check out these videos and make your own  judgment, but I say break me off a piece of that because I love the idea.

This supposed Motorola Leak is obviously a fake, so why bother everyone?

image

This picture is circling the Web and claims to be a leak of the Motorola Razor Ultra or some sites said the Moto X (which hello we’ve already seen the back plates of). I have no idea why sites are even posting this questioning it at all because it’s obviously fake as hell.
First the device is on an angle but the writing on the back is perfectly straight across as well as it doesn’t taper thinner as it moves away from the camera.
Then if you look around the writing it’s extremely obvious the terrible photoshop job as you can see the distortion around the words and even the Ferrari logo, as well as why the hell would there be a Ferrari logo on the razor or Moto X that’s only on the Motorola Ferrari model which has nothing to do with either device & is a separate device all together.
I’m just surprised every other Android enthusiasts site is even bothering questioning thus when it’s so obvious?
You can’t deny it but what do you think anyways?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition

image

Yesterday at Google I/O there wasn’t much in the way of product announcements, however there was one very interesting one. A collaboration of sorts with the #1 Android device maker Samsung. The New Galaxy S4 with a twist that should interest those who love a Nexus style Android experience.
The hardware is staying exactly the same as that in the original model, but the software will be a pure vanilla Android experience. So you lose all the features the device is known for, but that might not be as bad as it may seem. Samsung has received some flak over just how much internal storage said features takes up in the 16gb device. With all those features packed in leaves the user with around 8gb of storage from the get go. The Google Edition should leave users with around 14gb of storage.
Another great advantage would be in the update department where Google stated that the device will always be updated promptly with the latest version of Android.

If the device sounds appealing to you then you’ll want to check out the Google Playstore starting on the 26th. That’s when the device will become available & will sell for $649 in the US which is where it will first be made available with other markets to follow.

So what do you guys think of this device, is it worth the money considering it sells for the same as the feature packed model?
Do you care about the features of the S4 or is it the hardware  that draws your attention?
Let us know in the comments section below & stay tuned for more from Google I/O 2013.

Samsung Galaxy S4 has already sold over 6 million units & Pure Android Galaxy S4 Perhaps

image

Samsung had predicted they would sell 100 million units of the Galaxy S4 which seemed like it might be a little presumptuous if anything. Well maybe not as the newest flagship device has already passed the 6 million units sold mark in the very short time it’s been available according to a Samsung insider.

Still you might be thinking to yourself “ya but 100 million, I don’t know if that many ppl want a device with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI”, & you just might be right. Well here’s another twist to the story, a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a vanilla Android experience.
That’s right a Nexus style experience on the Galaxy S4 hardware. According to rumours going around at Google I/O Google & Samsung will announce just that at the event that begins today at 12pm sharp. If you can’t be at the event but you’d like to watch the live stream of the event you can do so here https://developers.google.com/events/io/ & find out for yourself if this rumour is true.
This would be great to have that kick ass hardware with a Nexus style/vanilla Android experience, it sure would leave the user with a much more acceptable amount of internal storage space albeit without all Samsung’s cool features.

Remember we heard talk before the Nexus 4 came out that possibly 5 companies would make Nexus devices? Well maybe it still could be true & we could very well see more than 1 vanilla Android phone this year.

What do you guys think, would you love to see a Galaxy S4 with vanilla Android & perhaps a few more phones with pure Android?
Let us know in the comments section below, we’d love to hear from you guys.

White Nexus 4 surfaces again, this time in a video

image

We’re just hours away from Google I/O & finding out just what Google has in store for us this year. A video from Techviewme.com of a white LG Nexus 4 has surfaced on the Web that makes one think that this could very well be one of the small device upgrades Google will show at I/O (Video below) . I say small upgrades because Google head if Android recently stated in an interview that there will not be any “New” device announcements at Google I/O.

Back to the White Nexus 4, I personally don’t like when companies make white devices that are only white on the back of the device. Really what’s the point if with a case on it you won’t be able to tell if it’s a white or black model since they will look exactly the same. The only way you’ll be able to see the difference is if the case you use on the device is the bumper case available in the PlayStore. I Always suggest using a case on any phone since your always just one small mistake away from having to replace a broken display without one Nomatter what phone you have. This is especially the case with the Nexus 4 since it features a glass front & back so not a fan of the color change being only on the back here. However this may not be the only change as some have suggested that this new model may also be an LTE enabled model, but we’ll have to wait and see possibly later today.

Google Now widget RELEASED!!!!

image

Seems Google let it slip that a widget for Google Now is in the works, & could possibly be released in the near future.
The widget will make using Google Now even better as you will be able to see the info it acquires directly on your home screen and/or lockscreen.

It’s unclear yet if the widget will be available for all versions of Android able to run Google Now or just a select version. I’m sure it will be released through an update to Google Now from the Google PlayStore though.
Have you heard anything else about this widget, perhaps anyone receiving the 4.2.2 update on their Nexus device right now may have got this update as well?
Let us know in the comment section below.
**UPDATE**
Google Now just was updated through the Play store with Widget support!!!!
It seems to be for all devices that are running any version of Jelly Bean. So if you have Google Now already head to the Play store & update.

Android 4.2.2 rolling out to Nexus Devices

image

Android 4.2.2 update to software build JDQ39 hitting a number of Google’s pure Android devices. These include the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and  the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus.

The update has been rumored to address Bluetooth A2DP audio streaming. What else, we’re not sure but if you got the update we’d love to hear what else you’ve noticed. It will be rolling out in fazes so be patient it’s coming.
