Galaxy S4 update hitting the phone for Telus & Koodo customers

image

The Galaxy S4 for Telus/Koodo (possibly Bell, Virgin, Rogers & Fido as well) is now receiving a nice update that brings many tweaks to the amazing device, including the ability to move apps to the SD Card.

This is good news for users who own the 16Gb version of the Galaxy S4, which ships with only 9.15GB of user accessible storage space. This update alleviates this storage crunch by letting users move apps to the SD card. It also slightly increases available storage to 9.23GB.

Besides the app to SD card feature, this new firmware also includes the following:

-Stability & performance upgrades
-slight increase of internal storage
-New Camera firmware
-Smearing issue has been fixed (Purple effect while scrolling)
-Smart Pause Toggle
-Move Apps to SD Card
-HDR Video (Can record HDR video)
-Semi-transparent status bar
New Icons in Settings
Secure boot status (About Phone)
-Increase legibility (Display) (New feature)

Galaxy S4 owners can update their handset using Samsung Kies software or wait for the update to arrive over the air.

*Update – After moving what I can I gained a full 1gb of space on my internal storage which is awesome IMO.
Update took about 45 minutes to complete so make sure you have the time. It’s also just over 300mb in size so have the space available to download before install.

I’m sure Bell & Rogers & their sister companies are also receiving this great update as well, but if someone could confirm this we’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

Have you received the update, how do you like it & do you notice a performance boost?

Samsung sold 20 million S4’s in Only 2 months, has me thinking stock price fixing

image

We all heard recently that the Galaxy S4 wasn’t selling well, & while I didn’t believe it what so ever others sure did as the stock fell quite a bit. Now we’re getting the #s from Samsung & it looks like it has become the fastest selling smartphone ever selling over 20 million units in only 2 months.
Why does this have me thinking stocks are being fixed? Well this is exactly what happened with the BlackBerry stock & the Z10 when it was first released. The Z10 was released & analyst said that it wasn’t selling well even though it was hard to even get your hands on at first & stock prices took a dive (this had me thinking how they were so off if that’s these analyst’s job) Then shortly after the actual #s came out & low and behold they were much better than the #s that Analyst had projected & stocks rose.
Now we have the Galaxy S4 & analyst made claims once again that the Galaxy S4 wasn’t selling well & stock prices dropped. Now we are hearing the true #’s & again they are not what the analysts predicted at all, in fact the Galaxy S4 is the fastest selling smartphone EVER.

So it seems to me that these analysts have found themselves a way to make some big cash fast by fixing the stock prices by talking down these companies new devices even though they know they are selling very well (I mean how can’t they if I know just from frequenting the net on mobile tech forums & blogs & checking out the comment sections). Then the price of said stock drops they buy the stock knowing all the time the device is selling like mad & a week or 2 later the official #’s come out & they are much higher than they claimed thus making the stock prices climb again & making these analyst’s a rather hefty amount when they sell the stock after the rise in price.

See there is nothing in the world that is as easy to do this with as smartphones because of the # of ppl who purchase these brand new devices as soon as they are released & I believe these analysts have found just that and are raking in the cash doing so. I’d like to see how these analysts live & I guarantee none of them are struggling & are doing quite well.
What do you guys think am I on to something or do I just question things way too much in this world lol. Let us know in the comment section below.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition

image

Yesterday at Google I/O there wasn’t much in the way of product announcements, however there was one very interesting one. A collaboration of sorts with the #1 Android device maker Samsung. The New Galaxy S4 with a twist that should interest those who love a Nexus style Android experience.
The hardware is staying exactly the same as that in the original model, but the software will be a pure vanilla Android experience. So you lose all the features the device is known for, but that might not be as bad as it may seem. Samsung has received some flak over just how much internal storage said features takes up in the 16gb device. With all those features packed in leaves the user with around 8gb of storage from the get go. The Google Edition should leave users with around 14gb of storage.
Another great advantage would be in the update department where Google stated that the device will always be updated promptly with the latest version of Android.

If the device sounds appealing to you then you’ll want to check out the Google Playstore starting on the 26th. That’s when the device will become available & will sell for $649 in the US which is where it will first be made available with other markets to follow.

So what do you guys think of this device, is it worth the money considering it sells for the same as the feature packed model?
Do you care about the features of the S4 or is it the hardware  that draws your attention?

Is Samsung’s Galaxy S4 enough to compete with the HTC ONE?

image

Samsung launched the long awaited Galaxy S4 last night in New York City by showing the device in real world situations via some terrible acting in its hour long play…. I mean presentation.
They showed off the mass of new features included in the Galaxy S4 including Air view, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll & much much more. Check out Samsung’s video at the bottom of the page for more.
The Galaxy S4 stays with the same sleek & stylish design as the Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2, with it polycarbonate build. This time they have dropped the hyper-glaze finish & went with a nice textured look that looks a little like Alligator skin. They have also made the edges a little less curved but it still feels great in the hand.

The Galaxy S 4 features a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. As for what’s powering the Galaxy S4 there will be two versions of processors, The unlocked international version will pack a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor and the North American or Carrier version will get an equally fast 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. The CPU with be accompanied by PowerVR SGX544MP and Adreno 320 GPU respectively. Both versions have 2gb of RAM as well.
The Galaxy S4 will be available from the big 3 & from Koodo at the end of April. It’s expected to be selling for around $700 so start saving your penny’s because April’s just around the corner.

Well what do you think, is it enough to compete with the HTC ONE? Will you be getting one?

Samsung’s unpacked event, what could the Galaxy S4 be bringing to the world?

Samsung is almost ready to reveal the “Next Big Thing” to their lineup & the rumours are flying about what the Galaxy S4 will bring. We’ve heard thing like Samsung will be dropping the Exynos Octa & going with a Qualcomm 600. Then we heard that that’s not the case & we will see the Galaxy S4 feature the new 8 core Octa with Big Little technology. Another rumour is that Samsung will be dropping the Amoled display that they are known for. It’s said now that it will have a Pholed display, either way we should expect to see a full HD 1080p display.
Feature wise it’s rumored that there will be an extention to the smart stay feature we all love, which keeps the display active while our eyes are on it & turn it off when we look away. Samsung is said to be extending this to include the ability to follow ones eyes to scroll the content on the screen while reading such things as the browser. Smart pause will pause the video we are watching when you look away. With these features added to all the voice activated features first brought with the Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2 we are moving towards not even having to touch our smartphones lol.

I’m very excited as we are just 5 days away from the release of the Galaxy s4 & I can’t wait to see just what Samsung has brought to the world this time.
What are you thinking Samsung could have up their sleeves this time around, what would you like to see as part of the Galaxy S4? Let us know in the comments below & stay tuned as we bring you all the news of the Samsung unpacked event as it happens.

Galaxy S4 gets a confirmed launch date & place

image

*UPDATE* Samsung just posted this pic on their Facebook page above completely confirming the Release of the Galaxy S4 at an unpacked event in NY & that it will be streamed through* YouTube.

The follow up to the widely popular Galaxy S3 from Samsung has been rumored to be launching March 14 in NY. Until now it was just that a rumour, but now Samsung’s Mobile division Chief JK Shin HAS basically made it official with this announcement.

“We introduced the Galaxy S III in London last year, this time we changed the Venue as we were bombarded with requests from US mobile carriers to unveil the Galaxy S IV in the country.”

Many love what HTC has brought to the market with the HTC ONE but have said they will wait to see what Samsung brings to the table with the Galaxy S4. Well you won’t have to wait long to make that decision now so you should start saving your pennies.
The rumored specs of the Galaxy S4 are all over the place & have even included Samsung ditching their own processor for a Qualcomm one & dropping the Amoled displays. We’ll find out on the 14th in NY just where the true specs fall but if your like me your hoping they include a Exynos processor & Full HD Amoled display. Also I really hope they haven’t went away from the very comfortable rounded edges they had on the S3 & Note 2.

What are you hoping to see in the specs of the Galaxy S4?

Video of the new HTC ONE looking sleek & damn sexy

image

Here’s the best video I’ve found so far of the new HTC ONE since there was no live coverage of the event & I wasn’t at the event personally.
It’s a video from the Mobile Geeks with a quick over view of the HTC ONE & I must say it looks absolutely incredible. If I didn’t already have the Galaxy Note 2 & have fallen completely in love with the S-Pen & other features it has I would be taking a serious look at getting the ONE. It’s one single piece of aluminum that each device takes 150hrs to produce. It is very sleek & as sexy as they come. Also there’s finally a phone with dual front speakers ahhhhh I think I just messed my pants lol.
image

Well I won’t talk anymore & let you enjoy this video from the guys at Mobile Geeks, take it away guys.

Well do you like it as much as me or do you think it’s another fail from HTC?
