Another couple New Shots of the Nexus 5 Leak ahead of its release

image
image

Not much to say about this expected press render from the well known leakster’s @evleaks other than its the clearest shot of what looks to be the final product that is the Nexus 5 from Google & LG.
We can see that the black model will have a nice soft touch rubber coating like the Nexus 7 with the Nexus logo carved out to reveal the plastic underneath and an embossed LG logo. The white model seems to have a matte white plastic back with printed Nexus & LG logo’s & will have shiny plastic sides unlike the black models soft touch material.

The month is quickly coming to an end & as the Nexus 5 is rumoured to be going on sale in Canada on Nov 8th we “should” be seeing an official announcement for the N5 any day now.

We pretty much know everything about the device including most of the specs & the multiple storage options, 16gb & 32gb as well as the starting price ($349 for the 16gb) which was leaked on Google’s own Playstore last week & finally that it will pack the newest version of Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
So now all we need to know is when will this officially be announced and if we can indeed get our hands on one as of Nov 8th here in the cold North & those are some extremely frustrating answers to wait upon but all will be better in just a few short days.

Anybody else getting impatient with this launch or is it just us? Hit the comments & let us know whats on your mind when it comes to the Nexus 5 below.
What model are you liking more & hoping to get your hands on at launch?

Great Nexus 5 inspired live wallpaper with Floating Action

image

Thought I’d share this great Nexus 5 inspired live wallpaper thats now available for free in the PlayStore. Looks great & has Floating Action like that featured in iOS7. The Floating action LWP has been around on apps in the PlayStore since before it was added to iOS7 so its fine to like it if your one that hates it just because its featured on the iPhone lol.

Follow the link below to download this great wallpaper while your waiting for the Nexus 5 to be announced on the 26th…….. Or somewhere around that date ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nexus 5 hits PlayStore with official pricing (partially)

image

The Nexus 5 has leak yet again but this time its official as it gets so far as it comes from Google’s own PlayStore. It gave us a couple shots of the final product & gave us some official info, that the new Nexus phone will definitely be called the Nexus 5 & also that pricing will start at $349. So the good rumours are so far coming true & now if the rumour of a larger battery in the 32gb (3000mAh) model comes true we could have the perfect pure Android device on our hands. The Nexus 5 has since been taken down but this has to mean we’re getting ever so close to the official announcement & release ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you guys think about the new Nexus, will you be getting one & what else are you hoping to see when it becomes official?

Nexus 5 leaks once more before it’s officially announced

image

The glorious Nexus 5 Google ‘s most recent pure Android device seems to have leaked one more time in this video showing off its build which seems to be an earlier prototype since the Nexus logo we’ve seen in later builds isn’t present. The single hole through the glass where the earpiece is also looks very unfinished as does the grill in the front glass on the bottom left which all bring credence to this definitely not being a final build. It does give us an idea of what the phones design & materials used will look like & I personally am very happy that it looks like it will have the same soft touch material as the Nexus 7 2013 since it feels great in the hand & adds a great deal of grip compared to the glass or plastics & especially metals, plus it will match our Nexus 7 2013’s beautifully ๐Ÿ˜‰

Check out the video below from the leakster, we’d all like to thank them but sure wish they would have show a little more of Android 4.4 & not chrome so much

Samsung wasted the chance to bring something cool with their curved display technology (Galaxy Round)

image

The mobile tech world has been talking for over a year about the curved displays manufacturers have been working on & the techies imaginations went wild. Well with Samsung & LG having announced that they had perfected the technology to mass produce such a display only time would tell who would be first to release a device using said display.

Today is that day as Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Round featuring a 5.7″ 1080p CURVED OLED display (other specs below)
The display curves in a very odd way that I’m sure nobody expected, you see it curves from side to side so the entire phone (front and back) curves the same way the back of the HTC ONE does.
The usefulness of this application of the curved display seems very limited & to us seems like Samsung cheaped out & were more concerned with releasing a device with curved display first than actually putting some design effort into it.
Samsung states that it emphasizes the view while flipping through home screens. They have also incorporated a lock screen that is activated when the device is laying on a table you can press down on one side of the device making it tilt forward to reveal the time, weather, alarm, notifications, ect (seen in video below) & well that’s about it.

It’s still early & we will give Samsung the benefit of the doubt that this design will prove to be more well thought out than it looks right now but it’s not looking good in our opinion. The balls in your court Samsung so prove us wrong. The specs of the Galaxy Round are however very impressive & it will be a solid device, but one that comes with a hefty price tag at just over $1,000. It’s unknown if the device will be available in North America at this time, but we’d love to know if the Round interests you?

Specs:
5.7″ 1080p CURVED OLED display
2.3ghz Quad Core Exynos Processor
3gb RAM
13mp Rear Camera & 2mp Front Facing Camera
2800mAh Battery
Running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean w/ TouchWiz UI
LTE Advance

Nexus 5 most recent leaks & rumours (pictures)(different sized batteries perhaps?)

image

Above we see a diagram from the supposed leaked owners manual for the Nexus 5. That same leaked manual gave up a list of specs that lead towards this being a very solid Nexus device & are as follows.

– 4.95-inch 1080p IPS TFT display
– 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip
– 2GB of RAM
– 8mp rear camera & 1.3mp front facing camera
– 2,300 mAh battery
– 16GB or 32GB of storage.
– Android 4.4 Kit Kat (internally known as KLP)

The most recent rumour is suggesting that the Nexus 5 will actually come in 2 different models. The rumour suggests the 2 models will have different storage (which we see above) but each storage size will come with different sized batteries.
The 16gb model will sport the 2,300mAh battery that we’ve all heard, but the big surprise is a rumour suggesting the 32gb model will feature a whopping 3,000mAh battery.

Rumored pricing for each model is rumored to be $299 for the 16gb model & $399 for the 32gb model. These are all just rumours at the moment but as many were only disappointed by the battery size in earlier leaks this is a very exciting rumour that means the Nexus 5 could be the Nexus device all the Nexus faithful have been dreaming about. We’ll bring you more as the leaks & rumours come in, all the way up to the launch.

Well what do you think of this most recent rumour of battery size & the other specs?
Let us know in the comments below we love hearing for all of our fellow Androidian’s.

Some more leaked photos of the Nexus 5 below.

Google PlayStore Gift cards have found their way to Canada

image

Google has finally started offering PlayStore gift cards in Canada, it’s about time eh ;-). Denominations of $15, $25 and $50 are available from selected retailers, including those which are listed below.

Best Buy
Shoppers Drug Mart
Target
Mac’s
Walmart
Future Shop

The cards apply credits to your Google Wallet account for purchases of games, apps, books, movies and music from the PlayStore. Possibly even devices we’re not sure as we’ve never tried.

For those of us at Team Android Canada that haven’t had credit cards at one time or another we just used Visa & Mastercard prepaid cards from these same retailers. So if PlayStore gift cards haven’t made their way to your local retailer you can always grab a prepaid Visa or Mastercard and just input the card like you would a regular postpaid version of said cards.
