Google PlayStore Gift cards have found their way to Canada

image

Google has finally started offering PlayStore gift cards in Canada, it’s about time eh ;-). Denominations of $15, $25 and $50 are available from selected retailers, including those which are listed below.

Best Buy
Shoppers Drug Mart
Target
Mac’s
Walmart
Future Shop

The cards apply credits to your Google Wallet account for purchases of games, apps, books, movies and music from the PlayStore. Possibly even devices we’re not sure as we’ve never tried.

For those of us at Team Android Canada that haven’t had credit cards at one time or another we just used Visa & Mastercard prepaid cards from these same retailers. So if PlayStore gift cards haven’t made their way to your local retailer you can always grab a prepaid Visa or Mastercard and just input the card like you would a regular postpaid version of said cards.

BBM is coming to Android

image

BlackBerry has announced that their BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) feature is coming to Android & iOS this summer.

It will initially come packing the features it’s been known for and will later be followed up with some of the newer features that BlackBerry 10 brings. It will be made available as an app from the new adopters respected app stores.
This is surprising as BlackBerry previously stated that it would keep BBM a BlackBerry exclusive feature/app.

Will this mean that those who have stayed with BlackBerry only because of BBM will now make the switch to Android or iOS? It sure has me wondering what this will bring once the app hits these other OS’s.
What are you thoughts on the subject? Let us know in the comments section below, we’d love to hear from you.

Instagram is safe to use again

image

Instagram made a Huge mistake in December 2012 when they announced a change to their TOS. News of its updated terms of service was met with a lot of angry users, many of which have left the service due to the proposed changes. Instagram then announced it would be going back to its original Terms of Service starting January 19 2013, and it looks like they’re sticking to their word as they’re announcing today what will happen once January 19 comes around.

In a blog post, Instagram highlighted three key updates to its Terms of Services, which are expected to be effective on January 19th.

image

Instagram also stated that they will do a better job explaining future changes. They are in the process of doing research to find out the best way to gain revenue from the site through advertising.

So if you flew the coup when they made the changes back in December you can worry no more (for now at least lol) as of January 19th & head back to using your favorite photo optimization & sharing app on your mobile devices.
Did you leave Instagram? Will you go back? Hit up the comments below.
