Nexus devices receiving update to 4.4.2

image

Google had started releasing Android 4.4.1 last week to the Nexus 5 but it seems there was a voicemail issue that was found so they’ve quickly rectified the issue & are presently pushing 4.4.2. Reports claim the update is being pushed to all Nexus devices that recieved Android 4.4 officially so if you haven’t received it yet go into your Settings Menu – About Phone – System Updates – Then tap the Check Now Icon to see if the update has been pushed to you yet.
If you never recieved Android 4.4.1 don’t worry you’ll go straight to 4.4.2.

The update from 4.4 to 4.4.2 will bring Camera improvements you can see listed in the screen shot above as well as now having the ability to Zoom in HDR+ mode which is a great improvement in our eyes. Also we have noticed that the slight static that could be heard when volume was at its lowest but not off has been reduced greatly. Volume seems to have received a boost as certain notification sounds that were hard to hear seem loud & crisp now.

Have you noticed any other improvements in the 4.4.2 or 4.4.1 update? Let us know in the comments below.

The Nexus 5 has arrived in Canada!

image

The Nexus 5 has arrived in Canada, actually 30,000 Nexus 5’s have arrived in Canada are sitting snugly in LG’s Canadian warehouses set to be shipped to their next destination. Their next destination is to carriers (Bell, Telus, Koodo, Virgin, Rogers, Wind, Fido) across the great white north.

The LG employee who took this shot for us all to see says that 4,000 of the 30,000 are for western Canada while the remaining 26,000 will cover the Eastern end of Canada’s carriers. So if your on the Western side of Canada get your cash in hand & ready for the official launch because with only 4000 of this initial shipment coming to your area you may have a hard time tracking one down, especially if yoir looking specifically for the black or white model.

Its still unknown the exact launch date of the Nexus 5 but a possible hint from the pic below (from gatgety.co.il) seems to point towards the 5th of November, this could be the date it actually will be  available for purchase however only time will tell. This could also be the release of the N5 & Android 4.4 KK in Israel & we could see it sooner, let’s hope anyways.

image

Google does have a G+ livesteam later today which could be the date we’re all waiting for as well. So wow Google has really been playing with our emotions with this launch havent they. Im sure we’re not the only ones who will be happy when this is all over & we have the long awaited Nexus 5 in our hands & we can sleep soundly after getting our New Nexus & Android 4.4 KK fix.

Another couple New Shots of the Nexus 5 Leak ahead of its release

image
image

Not much to say about this expected press render from the well known leakster’s @evleaks other than its the clearest shot of what looks to be the final product that is the Nexus 5 from Google & LG.
We can see that the black model will have a nice soft touch rubber coating like the Nexus 7 with the Nexus logo carved out to reveal the plastic underneath and an embossed LG logo. The white model seems to have a matte white plastic back with printed Nexus & LG logo’s & will have shiny plastic sides unlike the black models soft touch material.

The month is quickly coming to an end & as the Nexus 5 is rumoured to be going on sale in Canada on Nov 8th we “should” be seeing an official announcement for the N5 any day now.

We pretty much know everything about the device including most of the specs & the multiple storage options, 16gb & 32gb as well as the starting price ($349 for the 16gb) which was leaked on Google’s own Playstore last week & finally that it will pack the newest version of Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
So now all we need to know is when will this officially be announced and if we can indeed get our hands on one as of Nov 8th here in the cold North & those are some extremely frustrating answers to wait upon but all will be better in just a few short days.

Anybody else getting impatient with this launch or is it just us? Hit the comments & let us know whats on your mind when it comes to the Nexus 5 below.
What model are you liking more & hoping to get your hands on at launch?

Nexus 5 hits PlayStore with official pricing (partially)

image

The Nexus 5 has leak yet again but this time its official as it gets so far as it comes from Google’s own PlayStore. It gave us a couple shots of the final product & gave us some official info, that the new Nexus phone will definitely be called the Nexus 5 & also that pricing will start at $349. So the good rumours are so far coming true & now if the rumour of a larger battery in the 32gb (3000mAh) model comes true we could have the perfect pure Android device on our hands. The Nexus 5 has since been taken down but this has to mean we’re getting ever so close to the official announcement & release 🙂

What do you guys think about the new Nexus, will you be getting one & what else are you hoping to see when it becomes official?

Nexus 5 leaks once more before it’s officially announced

image

The glorious Nexus 5 Google ‘s most recent pure Android device seems to have leaked one more time in this video showing off its build which seems to be an earlier prototype since the Nexus logo we’ve seen in later builds isn’t present. The single hole through the glass where the earpiece is also looks very unfinished as does the grill in the front glass on the bottom left which all bring credence to this definitely not being a final build. It does give us an idea of what the phones design & materials used will look like & I personally am very happy that it looks like it will have the same soft touch material as the Nexus 7 2013 since it feels great in the hand & adds a great deal of grip compared to the glass or plastics & especially metals, plus it will match our Nexus 7 2013’s beautifully 😉

Check out the video below from the leakster, we’d all like to thank them but sure wish they would have show a little more of Android 4.4 & not chrome so much

Nexus 5 most recent leaks & rumours (pictures)(different sized batteries perhaps?)

image

Above we see a diagram from the supposed leaked owners manual for the Nexus 5. That same leaked manual gave up a list of specs that lead towards this being a very solid Nexus device & are as follows.

– 4.95-inch 1080p IPS TFT display
– 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip
– 2GB of RAM
– 8mp rear camera & 1.3mp front facing camera
– 2,300 mAh battery
– 16GB or 32GB of storage.
– Android 4.4 Kit Kat (internally known as KLP)

The most recent rumour is suggesting that the Nexus 5 will actually come in 2 different models. The rumour suggests the 2 models will have different storage (which we see above) but each storage size will come with different sized batteries.
The 16gb model will sport the 2,300mAh battery that we’ve all heard, but the big surprise is a rumour suggesting the 32gb model will feature a whopping 3,000mAh battery.

Rumored pricing for each model is rumored to be $299 for the 16gb model & $399 for the 32gb model. These are all just rumours at the moment but as many were only disappointed by the battery size in earlier leaks this is a very exciting rumour that means the Nexus 5 could be the Nexus device all the Nexus faithful have been dreaming about. We’ll bring you more as the leaks & rumours come in, all the way up to the launch.

Well what do you think of this most recent rumour of battery size & the other specs?
Let us know in the comments below we love hearing for all of our fellow Androidian’s.

Some more leaked photos of the Nexus 5 below.

Could this be the Nexus 5 or a prototype of another Nexus?

image

This picture is now everywhere and it’s from the video Google released earlier today showing them putting up the kit kat Android guy which is supposedly the next version of Android 4.4. In the screenshot we see a guy holding what looks like a mix of the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 2013 and is definitely not a device we’ve seen before, Could this be the Nexus 5 or a prototype for it?
Did Google do this on purpose? Well we’re not sure they did as they have now taken down the video from YouTube which has us all questioning it’s being done purposely. If it is I’m so happy that it looks to be a 5″ display would be packed in there with the comparison of the Nexus 4. I just hope it’s 1080p full HD which would be amazing on a Nexus phone because it sure makes the Nexus 7 one incredible tablet.

What do you guys think, is it the Nexus 5?

Once again LG’s taking another page from Samsung’s Play book

image

Seems like LG’s at it again taking another page from Samsung’s play book, this time it’s Samsung’s S-View cases that seem to be LG’s muse. LG has just announced a new line of cases for the unreleased G2 which is only about a week away from being officially announced. These cases that LG calls their “Quick Window” cases have a cutout on the front & just like Samsung’s S-View cases they let you see various info widgets without ever opening the portfolio style case. LG seems to have been following very close to what Samsung does lately in a, if you can’t beat em join em kind of way.
If anybody could sue anybody in the mobile world it really looks like Samsung sure would have a rather great case against LG, so it great to see these companies not going that route & perhaps just trying to one up each other. Competing this way is exactly what the mobile industry really needs to reach its full potential.

Back to the cases; By the looks of it they’ll be available in at least 6 bright colours, & let you see & control things from the clock, weather & notifications to your music player.
I personally despise portfolio /flip style cases as I game on my phone a lot & there is just no comfortable way to hold the device with them on it. It’s either digging in to your hand somewhere or makes the device slide around against the cover when it’s flipped to the back.

Well what do you guys think of portfolio cases & these cases in particular? Are you excited & waiting to get the G2 or will you be waiting to see what the Galaxy Note 3 brings to the table in September or so?
We’d love to hear from you so hit up the comments below & let your thoughts flow.
